Setting off from Southam I can honestly say I didn’t feel prepared. A week off and a few days in Amsterdam had left me feeling relaxed but not exactly fit.

I found myself breaking away from the team quite frequently but decided fall back to ride as a group. I found this quite difficult as the varied rhythm began to tire my legs. There were a couple of times where we got the team together and rode as a pack, this felt good and we soon caught people, shame the hills broke us up.

I hope that by Xmas we can start to ride at a constant pace as a team, else I think I’m going to find it difficult doing 100+ miles at varied pace.

The route was on good roads and was superbly organised. There was a food station and the safety bike/car regularly circled the route.
