How things change

Taking a walk around the area I grew up in left me feeling a little saddened. I spent my childhood playing on the Chawn Park fields . There was always something to do be it football, rope swings, tree climbing or messing about by the stream and there was always someone you knew there.

Many of the trees are now gone. My mom said the council’s cut them down for health and safety reasons. I find that laughable – huge oak trees that have stood for decades have to be felled encase someone climbing them injures themselves.

The view of the stream and filed’s just isn’t the same and it felt as though the soul of that area had gone. Perhaps its just me getting older but its the kind of place you imagine would never change.
