Race Report

What an awesome day! I really wasn’t expecting to be as competitive as we were after forming a scratch crew a week ago.

Jennifer boated us early before the semi final to give us time to warm up. The start wasn’t brilliant but it kept us in contact. The first 500 were OK but I didn’t feel on form. In the last 500 I started to feel the boat move and we pulled ahead, finishing 3/4 of a length ahead of Oxford City.

After several our wait we set off for the final against HSBC and Wolfson. The start this time was spot on, rating 40 over the first few strokes and putting us a length clear. I managed to get one air stroke but it didn’t seem to affect the boat. The water was choppy and we hit a few wakes. There were patches where the it all came together and this helped us maintain our lead. Wolfson put a push on near the finish but we weren’t going to let them beat us.

Presentations were made in the boat just after the finish line; this was a nice touch.
