Race Report

Another early start, eugh! There had been some debate about missing this one as we were entered in Senior 3. We opted to go to get some practice in.

Rowing to the start of the first heat we were all relaxed and in good spirits. We had no expectation to finish anywhere so were rowing for a time. The start wasn’t perfect but it was enough to keep us in the mix. After pushing for 500m we found ourselves in a comfortable third. We strode out and did a couple of pushes which moved us up to second. Our strokes were long and smooth resulting in the boat running well. We eased off in the last 500m after Jennifer told us we easily had second and should save our energy for the final. It was an awesome row which felt much more relaxed than usual. For the first time my legs ached more than my arms and I had no blisters on my hands. Must be getting better with the technique!

The final was very similar to the heat, bar a much better start. We got a little ragged towards the end but we did enough to keep third place and knock three seconds off our heat time. We were all over the moon with the result.
