Day 28 – Leaving Las Vegas

Woke up with 5 minutes to check out, scrambled our stuff together and sat in a daze in the car. We had one last thing we wanted to do before we left Vegas and that was to ride the New York New York roller coaster. So, without even having breakfast, we headed down the strip and rode the coaster. It was damn good fun!

Leaving Las Vegas we hit the road. 6 hours and 300 miles later we arrived in Anaheim (home of Disney Land and because of this cheap motels). We only made one stop and that was at Barstow for cash and a hair cut. Barstow also happens to be on the historic Route 66. Nto very scenic but over the moon to have driven part of it!

We have been chatting about places to visit in LA.
Places we remember from our tour are:
Universal Studios – we had an excellent time here seeing all the special effects, studios where famous films made, wet water rides, Blues Brothers exhibits etc. we loved it, the time went too quick.
Olvera St. – downtown LA, oldest house in Mexican style. Olvera St. Mexican market – total contrast to the modern high tech. parts – a reminder of how far society has moved in a relatively short space of time.
Farmers Market like it says a market but also a place to eat all different vaieties of food – good for sushi.
Mann’s Chinese Theatre (formerly Grauman’s Chinese Theatre) has collection of celebrity foot/hand prints cast into the sidewalk by its main entrance.
Of course we were on a bus so not sure how awkward or not the traffic/parking.
Always wish we’d seen the stars houses in the Hollywood Hills and also the Hollywood Bowl never mind – next time!
