Day 30 – Let me off, I feel sick!
Six Flags Magic Mountain theme park is quite a sight as you enter the car park; there’s rollercoasters everywhere. Managed to get half price tickets online and blag local pickup as we didn’t have a printer handy. Spent the rest of the day testing out some of the fastest, longest and scariest rides I’ve ever been on.
The breakdown:
- The Viper – First up and a whole lotta fun. Loops galore but pretty smooth.
- X2 – Oh my God! You start off going backwards but just before you drop your chair rotates so till you’re pointing straight down. The insanity continues as you rotate and roll through 360 as the ride progresses. Oh, and there’s also flames fired over your head. All in all pretty damn exhilarating.
- Tatsu – Like Air at Alton Towers – face first flying sensation with inverse loop, pretty awesome.
- Break – Now feeling a little sickly.
- Gold Rusher – Park’s first roller coaster. Original but fun.
- Riddler’s Revenge – The world’s tallest and fastest stand up rollercoaster. Superb ride.
- Batman – Like Nemisis at Alton Towers – feet dangling. Over in the blink of an eye, super fast and loopy – feeling even more sick.
- Break – Feeling a little more sickly. Had a quick nap.
- Goliath – huge drop into a tunnel then into tightening coil that make my vision start to disappear.
- Colossus – The tallest wooden roller coaster in the west. I love traditional wooded rollercoasters, there’s something about the sound, the way they turn and the construction. Was the straw that nearly broke the camel’s back as I was very close to being sick.
In conclusion – 8 extreme rollercoasters in 5 hours in hot conditions is quite an experience on the body and mind. The mind wanted more but the body couldn’t take it. The only ride I didn’t do but wanted to was Superman. This one blasts you up a ramp at 100mph then falls back down. I think I would have been sick!
Now back in LA not far from the airport. Flying to Ecuador after some last minute sightseeing tomorrow. Feeling apprehensive about south America as we’ve not got much organised and the Galapagos trip might be in jeopardy due to expense. Likely to not have internet for some time so keep on checking back for updates.

I appreciate any and all serious feedback, especially if you feel strongly about something I have written about.
