Day 62 – City of angels

Felt good to have slept in a comfy and warm bed again. Shame the cost of two nights was the same as a week in Cusco.

After our free continental breakfast, consisting of a muffin and coffee, we took the motel shuttle to the transit centre. From there we took a mixture of tubes and busses to  Hollywood Boulevard. Felt strange to be back in a familiar place, especially being able to read signs and understand the language. We were also back to dry heat, cloudless sky and blazing heat.

Walking over the stats embedded into the pavement we joked about who we’d stepped on. Got to say it was hard to find five people in a row I knew. Our walk took us past the Chinese and Egyptian theatres, the later being the more interesting as it contained a timeline of the best picture Oscar winners on its interior pillars.

Making the most of our Metro day pass we picked a couple of random stops. First was the Art Deco Union Station which I found particularly interesting. The light was perfect and it made the building stand out from the blue sky. It well worth a ten minute stop off. Next we headed further downtown to post some things and buy some books. Unfortunately the books we wanted were only available back near Hollywood Boulevard.

As we were back in the vicinity of the Chinese theatre at trip to the cinema felt in order. Before the show, Pride and glory, we got to see a red carpet and press show for a  film about the Le Man 24 hour race.

Returning on the Metro late at night was somewhat intimidating and I was relieved to get back in one piece.
